biography

Ekaterina Baranovskaia (born in 2001) is a pianist, accompanist, and teacher based in Klagenfurt, Austria. Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, she made her orchestral debut at the age of 13, performing Bach’s Concerto in D minor.


After graduating from the Mussorgsky College of Music in St. Petersburg under Prof. Tatjana Osipova, where she developed her passion for chamber music and accompaniment, Ekaterina moved to Austria in 2022. She is currently studying Piano Performance with a minor in Accompaniment at the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music under Prof. Ekaterina Rumyantseva and is a scholarship holder of the Live Music Now Kärnten Foundation.


She has performed with the GMPU Symphonieorchester, Kärntner Symphonieorchester, and JMK Millstätterberg, and has participated in masterclasses with Konstantin Semilakovs, Sara Costa, Ralf Heiber, and Giuseppe Ravì. Ekaterina is a prizewinner of the "Jihlava Music Festival"(2025), "Città di San Donà di Piave Competition" (2nd Prize, 2023), and the "Franz Cibulka Music Competition" in Graz (3rd Prize, 2024, with Duo “ClaP”).

After graduating from music school as a pianist in 2018, she continued her studies at the Mussorgsky College of Music in St. Petersburg, under the guidance of Prof. Tatjana Osipova. During her time there, Ekaterina not only honed her piano skills but also received her first lessons in accompaniment and began studying chamber music. From 2019 to 2022, she was a member of the Mussorgsky College Youth Symphony Orchestra.

In 2022, Ekaterina graduated with distinction from the College and moved to Klagenfurt, Austria, where she began her studies at the Gustav Mahler Private University of Music. There, she is pursuing a degree in Piano Performance with a minor in Accompaniment, under the mentorship of Prof. Ekaterina Rumyantseva. Since 2023, Ekaterina has been a musician with the Live Music Now Kärnten Foundation.

Chamber music plays a central role in her artistic life: she was a finalist with Trio "Rusalka" at the ARTEDEA-Arena Chamber Music Competition and studied chamber repertoire with Elisabeth Väth-Schadler and Lovre Marušić.


In 2025, she participated in the Erasmus+ project “Le Nozze di Figaro” (Castelfranco Veneto, Italy) as accompanist for Lisandro Abadie’s vocal class, refining her skills in operatic recitatives under Florian Birsak-Hayer. In 2026, she will perform a  solo concert with Italian soprano Virginia Genovese at the Birthplace of Gustav Mahler in the Czech Republic.
